TV Writer's Summit with Ellen Sandler

Yup that's right.  I'm currently 1 hour into a TV writer's summit.  Ellen Sandler is the first speaker.  She's talking about the basics of creating a TV series, in general.  It's not intended to be an in depth workshop, just a light advice and information introduction.

This, of course, is not the place I thought I would find myself this morning.  But here I am.  While I am unlikely to ever find myself writing a pilot, this is still an interesting semimar.  It gives me a view of another side of the writing life that I am completely unfamiliar with.  It is interesting, though definitely no less difficult that fiction wrting for short stories and novels.

Saturday Evening Dinner At Condor--Mind the Gap

Every year several friends, including Sheila Finch, Kendall Evans, Samantha Henderson, Kenn Bates, Scott Virtes, Debbie Kolodji, and a few other friends, get together for dinner on Saturday night.  Usually, we dine at Trellises at the Town and Country campus.

This year, the weirdness occured.  As usual, being a writerly crowd, we asked for separate receipts for tax purposes.  We were a group of 10.  This has never been a problem at any other restaurant.  After about half an hour or so, the restaurant came up with a solution.  They could split us up into 2 groups of 5 and assign us 2 servers.  Well, it seems rather than just assigning 2 servers to our large table, they actually had to physically separate the tables so that there was at least a 2 foot gap between our groups of 5.  In order to assign 2 servers to us, we had to be at 2 completely separate tables.

The Logic behind this is mind numbing, no matter how you look at it.

And we have no idea what happens if you enter the gap.

Soooo....Mind the Gap please.-
