So did anyone else arrive home from San Antonio with a major case of con crud?

Ok, to be honest it started well before Worldcon was over.

I made it out to parties on Friday night.  Of all the parties I attended, the Heinlein Society party, hosted by Keith Kato, who served his wonderful chili, was by far the best.  The party was made for Keith when Connie Willis decided to join in.

Saturday evening I crashed early with a high fever and missed the masquerade and all the rest of the evening fun.  Sunday, I tried to monitor the Hugos from bed again.  But between me passing out and the remote connection to the show popping on and off, I missed most of the awards ceremony.  Which is why I did not get the winners list posted right away that evening.

Monday we did a quick tour of the Alamo and flew home.  Got off the plane at LAX, headed home, picked up a rental car because the suspension in our car is having issues and we didn't want the parrots turned into parrot jelly on the way home from grandma's the next day, then headed straight down to San Diego.  Where I immediately fell into bed, still sicker than I want to admit.

Next morning we headed home and returned the rental car.  The next day I stayed home from work, still very ill.  But I didn't think it looked well to come back from vacation and claim to be ill.  It kind of looks like you're trying to take an extra day off.  Not a good work ethic.  But that resulted in my working from home still ill on Friday.

By Monday morning my cold appeared to be gone, but I was having difficulty catching my breath, so off to the doctor I went thinking he was just going to tell me it was muscle strain or something similar from all the coughing I had been doing and everything would be better in a few days.  That's happened before.  But much to my surprise, I have walking pneumonia.  Who would have thought.  And now I have been working from home all week, feeling not that bad but really weak.  I'm basically in isolation--no movies, no restaurants.  No exposure to people.  Not because I am contagious, but because they are contageous to me.  Actually according to my doctor, they are deadly to me at the moment.  It's weird to be taking antibiotics to protect me from infection, rather than to clear it out.  Monday the doctor will do more tests to see how I have progressed and whether I can physically go back to work.  I'm hoping I can get back to the office by Wednesday.  I'm not feeling anywhere near as sick and drained as the doctor said I would, so maybe I will be better recovered than he is expecting too.

Pneumonia is not the diet that I would recommend, but it does take the pounds off quickly.  Last night was the first meal I have been able to stomach and keep in for nearly a week.I'm hoping to do the same tonight.  At least my weight is still the same as yesterday, which is good.
